Liposuction

LIPOSUCTION

Procedure

Liposuction is a surgical technique used to remove unwanted fatty deposits from specific areas of the body including the face and neck, arms, trunk, abdomen, buttocks, hips, and thighs. It is NOT a substitute for weight loss, it is a method to remove localized fatty deposits or fatty tissue that does not respond to diet and/or exercise. Liposuction can be performed as a primary body contouring procedure or combined with other procedures. The best candidates for liposuction are relatively normal weight individuals who have excess fat in particular areas, and patients with firm, elastic skin will have a better result after surgery. Patients with decreased skin toxicity, significant weight loss, or age-related sagging are not good candidates for liposuction and require a procedure to remove excess skin. Contour irregularities secondary to structures other than fat cannot be improved by this technique, just as cellulite may not improve with this technique.
Type of anesthesia:
Regional block and sedation

Procedure duration:
Approximately 3 hours
Duration of results:
Definitive in case of maintaining a stable weight or below that prior to surgery
Recovery
Minimum hospitalization of 1 day Recovery of 14 to 21 days Definitive result at approximately 3 months

During neck liposuction, local anesthesia and sedation are usually used. A small incision is made below the chin and the fat is removed from this region. Once the desired contour of the neck is reached, the wound is closed.
